Katawa Shoujo is a “visual novel” - a story told through a game with text, pictures and music. A typical visual novel allows the player a limited amount of control over the protagonist’s story, in the form of choices. Because many such games involve “routes” that establish romantic relationships between a male protagonist and various female characters, they are often called dating sims. Like many VNs, Katawa Shoujo includes erotic content, but this can be disabled in the options.

Her nickname since childhood has been “Sadako” for her resemblance to the scary ghost girl from the “Ring” franchise. Her presence is eerie, her smile is unsettling, and she scares people when she approaches.

“Oremonogatari” centers on Gouda Takeo, an enormous young man with huge eyebrows, thick lips, a massive build, and other traditionally “unattractive” features. Despite his appearance, Takeo is the soul of charity and a paragon of manliness. Though his actions can easily be misinterpreted, and though his presence can be intimidating, he has been raised well and acts as a gentleman (as he understands it) at all times.
